TV Light

Richard Shindell

Let's pull the plug on this old movie
We both already know the end
Any fool can see it coming
Garbo always gets her man

He acts as if he doesn't love her
She gives him an icy stare
He lets her think he loves another
She acts as if she doesn't care

Time is passing in the TV light
It's such a shame to waste another night
When there ain't nothing on the silver screen
Can hold a candle to you and me

I see this picture and I wonder
Will we let the years go by
Growing farther from each other
Though we sit here side-by-side

So I'll do the dishes in the morning
This time I swear I won't forget
I know it's still a little early
But I think it's time to go to bed

Time is passing in the TV light
It's such a shame to waste another night
When there ain't nothing on the silver screen
Can hold a candle to you and me
