American society corrupt to the core
Record deficits and Bush spends more
On the military while he ignores the poor
I'm wide awake but my eyes are sore
Why are we blessed to live where we do?
Or have 80 dollars to spend on a shoe?
Why should certain people have a roof to protect?
And why should others live off a welfare check?
This life ain't fair it'll catch you unaware
But you'd better be ready for the tortoise and the hare
Smile show your teeth those pearly whites
Smite the weak and crush their rights
Maybe we should be more conscious
Of truth, reality, and all this nonsense
But its much more fun to play in the sun
Or take a man's money with a shotgun
Take a look around, this is your country

Anybody talking dissent, cops are gonna beat em
We don't want no controversy
Just clear channel com and MTV
I'm an American please don't make me think
Sure I care about the poor, WINK
Dollars make sense pitch a fork pitch a tent
But pay the landlord cuz he needs the rent
Pay your taxes and pay your dues
So much to pay so easy to confuse
Hard working Americans on minimum wage
We care more about reality TV than their rage
Or their feelings, these are unfair dealings,
I eat steak and you eat potato peelings

The perks, of struggle are few
If you make less money than me, I hate you
