Born in England as a son of Irish folk
Shane grew up in Tipperary, Ireland
His mother was a singer and Theresa was her nameShe introduced him to the traded Irish ways
In his house were Irish sessions all night long
Irish jigs and polkas played by Irish men
At the age of five he smoked his first cigar
One year later laying drunk on the floor
Oh Shane
We love your songs so much
′Bout Irish history and brown eyes in a bus
Oh Shane
You brought us such great songs
And bliss from the prime of your life
In the London schools he didn't spend much time
He was thrown out after sharing too much drugs
That was the starting point of his brand new career
He formed The Nips and played some gigs in London Town
And in ′82 The Pogues were up to start
He wrote songs and they were famous all along
"Old Main Drag" and "Boys from County Hell"
And the drugs gave support to his trail
Oh Shane
We love your songs so much
'Bout Irish history and brown eyes in a bus
Oh Shane
You brought us such great songs
And bliss from the prime of your life
Oh Shane
