A Chosen Life

Thepencia M. Herbin

i have lived my life as i wanted to, i did all the things i wanted to do,i found everyday joy in the streets, and all kinds of people i was able to meet.i have never worried about anything, or tried to measure up to every bodies means. i know you think i could have done better, if i had lived a higher standard to the letter. is your life so much better than mine? will you be able to say i'm happy, at the end of your living time? i enjoyed meeting people of all races, and seeing the many faces, displaying my expertise, and pleading my cases. i was a free spirit, i lived with ease, i came and i went as i pleased. i didn't hurt anyone with the way i preferred to live, i had peace, satisfaction, and my freedom was fulfilled. i loved my family, don't get me wrong, but where they lived was not my home, and under their roof i didn't belong. don't cry family and don't you fret, i have gone on with jesus, and i have no regrets. in my own way i tried to show you all my love, i know i wasn't something you were proud of. even so, i did care, and my love was still there. i didn't have anything to leave, dear loved one's, so just remember me for who i was and where i came from. good-bye everyone, i have moved on to the upward street corners, of the great unknown.
