Trip Squad

Speedy Justice

I′m a tell you right now
Stop this song and put on
Vangelis, it's a nice ride or
So you took some acid
That′s alright, you're good
I been there myself many times
And it's nice to hear somebody
Who can talk
That knows something about
What′s happening

So I wanted to record this if you
Or somebody else needed somebody
Talking they could take time to sit back and listen
And know
It′s just a temporary thing
That was important to me
Being in each minute

I'm an old guy, nearly sixty
Probably not too cool
I′ve got a buddy Noam Chomsky
Who's an old guy too
I ask him about plots for science fiction stuff
Mostly linguistic conundrums he′s a
Linguistics guy, really smart
And so nice, he always answers me
Whatever I ask, even listens to my songs
So far he's appreciated all of them
That was important to me
Being in each minute

Like a picture frame
Remembering back
It was like each moment was in a frame like a picture
And changes the frame for a second each second replaces another frame
And they all connect just like the real world
Where all the moments lead to and back to each other moment
In to and fro and behind, future and past meeting like, forever
In the right now moment frame
All connected in the trails like the ones where the frames are trails
Like 12 of your hands one in front of all the rest
Like an afterglow with each trail birthing other
Trails evening up everything
Then all the frames zoomed out all aligned

That was cool, I don′t know if you're there yet
In your trip or if you're at the beginning when
You′re really high but totally aware
Totally with it, where if someone was saying
Peanut butter over and over
You′d be like yeah it's funny sure it′s funny
But you knew they were just fucking with you
Trying to throw you off or something
You could see through the ruse like thin paper
It's shadows
That person saying peanut something is
Not going to throw you off your game
The fame or frame
You shouldn′t listen to rap

One thing that was funny I remember
Was the time you'd see stuff that wasn′t there
And you knew it wasn't there because three blinks
And it goes away for a second or you can see through
One sixteenth of the spaceship or whatever like just the middle
And you know it isn't real, you know it′s not like an invisible
Camera from a different dimension or anything that
Only becomes visible every once in awhile when you′re high

And you know I'm just F′ing with you right. Right

This is just a time thing
I'm not timing you, that′s for eggs
You time an egg. Like 3 minutes for a runny yolk
Runny yolk the yellow part is the sun or it represents
The sun a referent or is it a signifier it's a sign
That says sun with color and roundness and height
Yolkiness

Ooh I′ve got a neat project
If you crack an egg 12 inches from the table
Like a kitchen table or one with bunnies, not knives
And the yolk has to fall to the table
Whatever table you choose
So the egg yolk and yellow sunny side
Has to fall from where you cracked it
To the table you know gravity and stuff it always works
It's scientific

The egg innards are going to fall for certain
But in order for them to fall 12 inches they have to fall 6 inches
First, and they have to fall three inches before that.
Before they fall three inches they have to fall 1.5 inches
But before they do that they have to fall half that distance, like 3/4 of an inch
And you could do this forever, it's forever math
Because scientifically you can never ever get to the distance
Which you can′t divide it by half
You could get to the size of an atom, and divide that space by half
And as they say, go ad infinitum

So space is impossible, right Wow, is that cool? I don′t know, maybe
What do I think.
Maybe time is the same way, for an hour to go by it needs a half hour
But before that 15 minutes, 7 minutes, 1/100th of a minute
One trillionth of a minute ad infinitum
So time and space impossible Science says add up all the frames
And you get a whole number, the number one
Take that Zeno, Take That Pascal

I was on the trip squad at the 20th anniversary of Woodstock
I had hitchhiked across the nation again
Removing myself from my friends so I could
Stay away from junk and all the other stuff even alcohol
And I met some great people who got me a job
At the medical tent working on the trip squad
I got to see the bands periodically, Sawyer Brown
And Melanie, Richie Havens, John Sebastian and a bunch of others
And I was one of the trip squad, talking people down who
Got on a bad trip, I'm good at that, even clean
That′s rare, most people tripping don't want a straight person
But I′m like that wavelength burnt out I guess a little maybe
And I won't talk about that festival anymore

So what really happened to Michael Jackson do you think
Anyway just messing with you didn′t mean any of it after the egg thing
So don't concentrate on a third eye or anything
Just stay mellow
If something big happens there's a 90 percent chance it′s not really happening
So walk calmly to a place where you′re safe and trust the people
Who look worried. I hope nothing big happens and you have a great night
And morning. It's not going to last more than 10 hours, and that
Might seem like a long time but it′s not really
It's going to be alright, quiet is good most of the time
John Lennon is good to listen to
Elliott Smith, Roger Eno′s Between Tides might be the
Best to listen to if you can find it

I might not see you because I can't leave the frames I′m in
I can't see past these walls in 2022
But I want you to know that I care about you
I really do
There's so much wrong with people these days
But there′s one thing I can count on
I love my fans
They′re a mess, for real, but I love my fans
And if you've stuck with this song this long
Then I consider you a fan
And I love you, no matter who you are you mean everything
To me, right now where you are and where I am
These trails stretch out to one another
I love you
Thanks for being there and thanks for being here

Before I go relax and let me give you a kind vision
So like, eyes open or closed, let′s say open so you don't get distracted
By the closed creations
You′re at a beach, in a modest but comfortable bamboo shack
The colors of light brown for bamboo, a wall of small brown cylinder husks
Light brown sand of your feet and aqua foam color of the water
Blue sky and salty breeze gentle on your bare chest, just you and me
Eyes closed enjoying the salt and breeze, lets live here for a few seconds
Only thinking of our being here right now
And this is where I leave you loving who you are and how you are I love you
