On Contradiction

Sorry About Dresden

We are all tethered, we are all torn from our stations

And left here to weather that never does as it should

In somebody's house in

somebody's kitchen refrigerator

spot somebody's picture

You've never seen and probably never will

but still, you steal

Stay in my mind; I need someone to recall

Stay as you were when you

leaned in the light of the hall

Stop swallowing glass just to

cough up some blood for attention

Stop smiling at me as if to say

you proved me wrong and its all ok

well its not

You start to choke because you hate cigarettes

Mostly you know this sometimes you forget

Like all of the sleep that you never get

Well it starts to add up like a bad debt follows you

Stay in my mind; I need someone to recall

Stay as you were when you leaned in the light of the hall

Stay still I need to know where you are

Stay near; my memory fails when you're far

They march through this town like a circus parade

Ransack the gullible, set fires, get paid

And all through the streets a commotion is made

But when you look the next day

Nothing has changed here at all
