Phantom Limb

Robert Schilling

When the clouds in the sky grow grey and dark

And the spirits flow deep in my bones

The glow of the fire still remains

My skin still feels the warmth

I can see you breathe from the other side of the window

With gusts of pain striking again and again

The sun comforts my limbs

One by one, taking what's cold and all of my hurting

The sun and I become one

When the lightning strikes and the rain sets in

And the raindrops roll down the window

My body feels lonely and cold

Yet somehow I can feel the sun

My body shivers from the warmth inside

It wiggles the bones of my broken heart
