Rescue

Painting Daisies

Desecrated by the emotional devotional love sea

I fell away from Heaven to see what I could see

There was a man on the corner playing prophet for five bucks

So I knelt down beside him to verify this luck

Sure enough his eyes were concerned with how they should lie

About the cards that lay before him

About the truth they could hide

Instead he said his powers scared him and that I should go away

"Forget the five dollars,

God knows you've paid.

God knows you've paid."

Crying in the shadows the news man's broke out

The devil's getting fired so won't you please come out

I wanna see the angels all sitting in the tree

Singing, "Glory Halleluja!"

Please won't you rescue me, won't you rescue me?

There are blue eyes and there are blue skies

And they often fit together

Children playing lovers until a change in the weather

Shocked by the drop in the once placental-like air

Pulled from a kiss that's been locked for half a year

Well we were wired, wired, wired from our guts

Hunger not love... love missed us

Love missed us

Crying in the shadows the news man's broke out

Cupid's getting fired so won't you please come out

I wanna see the angels all sitting in the tree

Singing, "Glory Halleluja!"

Please won't you rescue me, won't you rescue me?

It's over now, it's over now

The sunshine man's come in

He's higher than the rest of us

He will wash away the sin

Tonight we will sleep

Tomorrow we will weep

I can hear the reaper knocking on the door...

Hey... hey... hey... hey...

Won't you rescue me?

Won't you rescue me?
