Michael wants to be a writer, but isn't sure where he should start

So he keeps his number in his pocket and he keeps his story in his heart

And truth he says is in the silence

It's inbetween the ups and downs

And in the middle of speaking he stops suddenly

Yeah, he stops and looks around

Meanwhile I'm searching for the words to keep the conversation going

But I have no way with words, so we just sit there waiting

She says she has a secret, but she keeps it locked tight in her head

And there's angels hiding in her closet whispering the words she never said

And in the middle of sleeping she wakes suddenly

She always has that same old dream

All about a man that she once knew

But she cannot finish telling me

Meanwhile I'm searching for the words to keep the conversation going

But I have no way with words, so we just sit there waiting

I woke up in the backyard

I was standing on my neighbor's fence

I had my arms out to keep my balance

Oh, but I, I must have taken a wrong step

And in the middle of falling I stop suddenly

A couple feet off of the ground

And then my neighbor comes out, sees me floating there

And he says "son, I think it's best if you come down"

Meanwhile I'm searching for the words to keep my concentration going

But I have no way with words so we just sit there waiting

I have no way, I have no way

I have no way with words

I have no way with words

So we just sit there waiting
