Candle

Jason McCoy

Her little man

Is four years old

Looks like his father

So he's been told

But he wouldn't know

He ain't never

Seen him around

Life has been cruel

He treats her unkind

She'll keep on searchin'

Until she can find

Somethin' she can cling to

When the rain comes down

A candle just won't light

In the pourin' rain

The pressures of this life

Were drivin' her insane, yeah

Now given the chance

She knows she can shine

But she's so tied down

She ain't got the time

Candle just won't light

In the pourin' rain

She was so young

Had to quit school

Grew up too fast

Now, she's nobody's fool

No time to dream

Life just kinda

Leads her around

Nine to five world

leaves no room to grow

She'd spread her wings

But there's nowhere to go

Her tiny flame is no match

For the rain comin' down

A candle just won't light

In the pourin' rain

The pressures of this life

Drivin' her insane, yeah

Now, given the chance

She knows she can shine

But she's so tied down

She ain't got the time

A candle just won't light

In the pourin' rain
