So Strange How Times Change

Dorian Davis

I remember sitting there

Wide-eyed upon your kitchen chair

You were so afraid that I might fall

Now it's me, the referee

Reliving raucous memories

So hang new drawings on the kitchen wall

And it's so strange how times change

How the way we were gets re-arranged

How we watch the canyon getting wider

When nothing really changed

Well grandpa, grandma's wedding bands

They fell like stars into my hand

Packed away in boxes in my room

And mama's stride is getting slower

I'll miss her more the more I know her

We were blessed with the woman in the moon

And it's so strange how times change

How the way we were gets re-arranged

How we watched the canyon getting wider

When nothing really changed

We are still the same
