Rahul Dev Burman, also known as, R. D. Burman, Pancham and Pancham da, (June 27, 1939 - January 4, 1994) was a Bollywood music composer. He was the son of singer and music composer Sachin Dev Burman, and the second husband of playback singer Asha Bhosle. He is credited with revolutionizing the music in Hindi films, and his style and techniques continue to be followed by the composers of today. Despite being charged with inspirations & lifting tunes it is true that he gave the numbers which are much more superior then originals. As told by gulzar while remembering pancham "tum jitne bade sangeetkar the utne hi bade craftsman bhi the". The film industry gave him true recognization after his death by starting awrads in name of him. First started with SUMU Award from the makers of Superhit muqabala a music countdown show. Later followed by filmfare & others. After his death when his bank locker was opened, it contained a Rupee 5 only inside it, but he showered all of his wealth on us through his music.
